We admire Gandhi.
Not only for his simplicity and “walk the talk”,
but also for the Ahimsa principle He hold with no compromise.
It is not a luxury then if the world appointed his birth date,
October 2, as the world’s Non Violence Day.
Gandhi’s quote,
“I first learned the concepts of non-violence in my marriage”
firmed us to set our wedding at that date, and also celebrate non-violence day in Bali.
We respect nature and love living beings,
hence the celebration is held by the beach
with simple breakfast, local fruits and other vegan meal.
Sunrise is chosen to match our usual greeting, Good Morning.
This is an open invitation for friends and foes (if any).
We didn’t print an invitation to lessen the weight of the earth,
but hesitate not to come, even those who jog on the nearby beach,
we welcome you.
Maybe the food will finish quickly,
but some friends are bringing food from home
and share what they have with others,
please do the same, if it makes you happier.
Worry not about dress code or make up,
You’re welcome to show up in your jogging suit or beach sarongs.
Some friends will lead yoga session, you’re welcome to join them,
Some will play saxophone, please sing and entertain us all.
We invite spiritual leaders, groups and
our fellow social workers to join us,
together we will pray for everlasting peace on earth.
Our different-ability friends will greet you at the front,
so we can learn to see the deeper beauty within others.
A souvenir in the form of lifetime calendar is available for you to have,
It contains 366 quotes expressing awareness and happiness,
But there are 2 conditions you need to fulfill in order to have it:
- it is a must for you to be there even if it is just for a while
- due to the paper form of the calendar which takes the life of a tree, we kindly request you to repay the nature by accepting a little tree and promise to plant it.
Embrace the sunrise,
Feel the morning breeze,
Listen to the sound of the wave,
Laugh,
Hug,
Be grateful.
Whisper a prayer for more peace in the world,
great weather all day and…
us
happiness always,
tika & gobind

Hello Gobind and Tika
We haven’t met before but Dewi, from Ubud Toastmasters, told me about your wedding and your admiration for Gandhi. Unfortunately, I cannot attend your special day but thought I would send you a small eco-friendly gift in the form of a poem I wrote….
“Be the change you want to see in the world”
Gandhi was a wise man
many good words and deeds
but of all his thoughts and actions
there’s just one that I ask you to heed
“Be the change you want to see in the world’
the words aren’t lofty or grand
but basic, down to earth
something everyone can understand
If people tend their inner gardens
with the changes they want to see
then life would be easier for everyone
including you and me
So next time you’re sad or angry
or read the paper for to gloat or just see
a glut of negative words and actions
ask yourself “Is this helping me to be…..?”
Wishing you happiness on your wedding day and for your future together.
